GERMAZINE

AN UNDERGRADUATE JOURNAL
IN ZINE FORM [2021-2023]

ISSUE 1: Moments of Despair

On a visit to the MoMA, a particular exhibit stood out to me. Archived letters that described art as a gift between friends. Thus, Germazine was born. Germazine [pronounced GERM-uh-zeen] is an inexpensive way to gift art. The inaugural issue is diaristic, focusing on intimacy, embarrassment, and desire.

ISSUE 2: New York, New York

Germazine Two was a necessity. A way to release the pressures of living in the chaos of New York City. This issue asks the reader to engage in a similar release, of fears, secrets, and humor.

ISSUE 3: Goodnight Germs

This issue of Germazine is a bedtime story. One of the more structurally sound issues. Germazine doesn't take itself too seriously. Instead, it delights in the absurd, much like the dreams that follow sleep.

ISSUE 4: Friends of the Germ

Germazine is a gift between friends. This issue is all about friendship. Each page is a submission from a friend of mine to create the ultimate friend zine. Woohoo!

ISSUE 5: Sometimes I Lie, Whatever

This issue of Germazine took submissions from the community. With a focus on lying, contributors submitted lies they've been told, stories about a lie, or any art related to the theme.

ISSUE 6: Germento Mori, Zines Must Die.

The last installment in Germazine. A final reflection on making free zines for the sake of friendship.
